So, I didn’t think I was going to continue with Curious Curls. I started a new blog on a subject where I didn’t feel I had to be anonymous…but then this week a whole flurry of suitors has come knocking at my door and gosh darn it I feel like sharing.

Remember Boy Toy? Well, he hasn’t given up trying to see me just ONE more time. Admittedly I did flirt with him via email and an occassional phone call, toying with the idea of what it would be like to hang out with someone so much younger again. I finally caved and told him he’s too young and I can’t promise that he would get any if we got together..and would you believe it he was fine with it. Happy to go for drinks and be friends! Shocking. So he’s lined up for drinks tonight and I think I plan on kissing him for being such a good sport.

Then there’s the Fireman. Sigh, yes I had the opportunity to live out every girls dream of shagging a hot, chizelled bodied fireman last summer and it seems like he’s back for more. Emails appeared out of the blue just two days ago trying to make excuses to start climbing with me again. This relationship was almost purely based on sex and emails..with spring in the air it’s hard not to answer the call.

Where the true interest lies for me is with this new guy I met online. I didn’t realize until now that the online world actually produces guys who are handsome, successful and nice. Generally you get one of the three. First date was a happy surprise over coffee, then second date we went rock climbing…and can I just say what a beautiful view (hot, hot and more hot) When guys have really physically fit physiques like that I get a little intimidated. When the date ended he walked all the way back to my end of town and seemed interested in hanging out again. Why is it that when you meet someone you are clearly attracted to, a little bit of insecurity appears doubting yourself and assuming that they’re probably not that into you. Coping mechanism perhaps?

So I guess as a form of keeping my options open I’ve lined up another date for tomorrow. An intriguing Asian guy from the online world who has a penchant for arts and rockclimbing sent me a wink last week and while he might land up on the friends side of the table I think i’ll be in for a fun Saturday night

Talk about not putting your eggs all in one basket!

Boy Toy texted me last night…which made me wonder, how do I balance my sexual urges with the need to focus on my work and all the projects that I’m currently juggling.

It’s day two of working from home. Now that I’m in control of my work day I can fit in a yoga routine in the morning that won’t actually make me late for work. I figure it’s all about balance. Balancing work, balancing time with friends, balancing my own personal well being and balancing those naughty thoughts that move me to mischief.

The thing is if I go out with Boy Toy on Saturday, I KNOW what will happen. I’ll drink a little too much which will make me a little frisky and a little giddy. Then he’ll start to seem more interesting then he probably is. We’ll make small talk until the alcohol dissolves our shy banter and we’ll end up kissing in public along one of the cold streets in Toronto until I decide to take him home….

I know already that Boy Toy is a bit of short term fun and distraction, so my question to you is should I or shouldn’t I ?

( I commented on Girl Dates London the other day that when you find yourself going for men who play hard to get or don’t show you the attention you need it’s probably because you’re still looking to be single (or possibly don’t appreciate how fabulous you really are). I’d say the same for fooling around with guys who are way, way younger than you, aka boy toys. That said the naughtiness of getting it on with a university lad on Friday was totally fun. Here’s the story.)

There must have been something in the air last Friday.

It started off in the morning with an internet technician trying to pick me up while he set up my long awaited internet connection in my bedroom/office. It started with cheesy lines like “ Do you like to go out?” At first I thought he was just being friendly but as I gave him a cheery goodbye and said have a nice day, he responded “ It would be a much nicer day if you gave me your phone number, wanna go for lunch?” …uh yeah, buh bye.

Then at noon I took my coworker out for a farewell lunch. I’ve developed a rapport with the guys at the Warehouse Grill who always like to tease me, but today they were extra friendly, eager to chat and offered us free cookies at the end of our lunch. The gruff Italian chef, who I’ve always had a little thing for, even smiled at me…weird.

By nightfall I was raring to go. I decided that my week of ultimate stress had to be relieved with a little drinkin’ and dancin’ I took my new Parisian roommate out to her first contemporary dance performance and then went on the search for a good bar where we could dance the night away.

Many glasses of white wine later, the music started pumping. We danced up a storm and got picked up by some charming university boys who were out for a good time. As the hours went by the crowd started to thin, you could feel the sexual tension in the small bar. Everyone who had lasted until 3:00am was now drunk, free of inhibitions and open to the possibilities. At one point it felt like I could have gone home with my pick that night.

What I do remember was grabbing the cute skater guy with the hoody who we’d been hanging out with and kissing him on the ice of a freezing cold parking lot off Queen st. After two months of no action it felt awesome to let go and taste his rosy lips. Like a little puppy dog he followed me home…

(He kinda looked a little like this.)

I am happily single (most days) and about to try running a small business from my home.

I’ve been rearranging my ample sized bedroom in order to incorporate a small office. The thing is the relationship between how I am in my room and how I am at the office have always been two very different experiences.

My room has always been a place cluttered with clothes, plants and paraphernalia with a big space in the middle for my morning yoga mat. The only time it really gets clean is if I’m procrastinating or expecting visitors. My desk at work on the other hand is generally orderly and gets routinely cleared and organized at the end of the day.

Now I am faced with a crucial dilemma, how do I keep my room a welcoming space by night (where I can hopefully entertain handsome men from time to time) and create a presentable and productive work space by day?

Today I figured that the first step was dealing with the incredible mounds of laundry that have developed in different corners of my room. I decided that all I needed was a cool looking laundry hamper or chest where I could store away my piles of dirty clothes and deal with them at the end of the week.

I decide to deal with situation by taking a morning stroll in the Annex. Just five blocks into my walk I saw a beautiful wicker chest propped on the top of someone’s recycling box. I was so happily surprised I decided to cut my walk short and lug the 4ft wide by 1ft deep chest back to my house, feeling certain that my muscles would hold out for the journey.

Well, I managed the first half of the block as I awkwardly made my way back up the street. Slowly I started to feel the burn in my arms as the blessed chest began to feel heavier and heavier. By the time I reached the end of the block I felt like a fool as I stood leaning the chest against a lonely stop sign.

Just as I was about to make a second attempt, one of the most dreamy men I have seen in a long time asked me if I needed help. He was tall, slightly tanned, had freshly coiffed light brown hair with a friendly dimpled smile without an iota of sliminess. I was so incredibly impressed and shocked as we walked back to my house, holding each end of the chest, that it was all I could do to make interesting small talk. I thought perhaps the gods were smiling down on me with nothing to do but send me little gifts that morning. It was a sunny, friendly moment where I was reminded that we really do rely on the kindness (and good looks) of strangers to get us through the day.

When we reached my front porch I asked him his name but didn’t have the guts to ask him for his phone number. If my life was an episode from Sex in the City I would have invited him in for tea and ended making love to him on the kitchen table. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. While I may have missed a golden opportunity the experience totally made my day

I went climbing last night at one of my favourite indoor climbing gyms, Toronto Climbing Academy. I’ve got to give kudos to the sexy men who boulder. There is something so appealing about watching a man’s muscles work as he exerts himself up a challenging problem on the wall. I try not to oggle but thankfully bouldering is a a spectator sport and it isn’t rude to stare.

Seriously when I started climbing my mind certainly wandered off into a realm of naughty fantasies. I took an outdoor climb course where we were taught how to tie a series of knots that are crucial to climbing outdoors. As we manouevered ourselves around metres of rope, tieing into harnesses and learning everything from the simple figure eight to the handy alpine knot..I started to think about Japanese bondage.

As a strong, intelligent and assertive woman, I have the most incredible urge to have my wrists bound with rope and tide to a bed frame, or a tree, or…. I’m not into the world of BDSM and yet I get all hot and bothered at the thought of a strong man having his way with me.

Why is that?

There is nothing more joyous than fresh snow fall.

I woke up this morning looked out the window at the mounds and mounds of fresh powder outside and decided that the best way to celebrate the day and kick my moody February blues was to walk to work. All bundled up I set out the door in an outfit perfect for a Scandanavian fashion show (skirt over snow pants, knee high winter boots and a knitted hat with those cool earflaps – not to mention the purple down jacket my mom bought me for Christmas.)

I felt like a kid again. The piles of snow let off an incredible glow and the side streets of Toronto seemed to take on a dream like quality. I skipped through the knee deep snow, smiled randomly at the brave few who were out shoveling their little piece of side walk and created fresh tracks down the quiet roads and hidden alleys as I made my way from the Annex towards Dufferin Liberty Village. I even got to practice a bit of broken Italian when I stopped for an Americano at the Riviera Cafe on College St. in Little Italy.

The highlight of my gleeful trek was when I got to Trinity Bellwoods Park. The beauty of a snow storm is that the masses either stay in doors, huddle on streetcars or roll slowly along in their cars. When I reached the edge of the park a perfect blanket of fresh snow lay before me. Next thing I knew I was running through the line of trees kicking snow everywhere and feeling an ultimate sense of freedom, space and total silliness as I made my way through a million snow flakes.

Why am I telling you this? Well, in the after glow of a perfect morning with my cheeks still flushed and rosy, I wanted to send you my happy vibes as a little Valentine’s day memento.

Have a wicked day.
