Fresh Snow Fall February 12, 2007

There is nothing more joyous than fresh snow fall.

I woke up this morning looked out the window at the mounds and mounds of fresh powder outside and decided that the best way to celebrate the day and kick my moody February blues was to walk to work. All bundled up I set out the door in an outfit perfect for a Scandanavian fashion show (skirt over snow pants, knee high winter boots and a knitted hat with those cool earflaps – not to mention the purple down jacket my mom bought me for Christmas.)

I felt like a kid again. The piles of snow let off an incredible glow and the side streets of Toronto seemed to take on a dream like quality. I skipped through the knee deep snow, smiled randomly at the brave few who were out shoveling their little piece of side walk and created fresh tracks down the quiet roads and hidden alleys as I made my way from the Annex towards Dufferin Liberty Village. I even got to practice a bit of broken Italian when I stopped for an Americano at the Riviera Cafe on College St. in Little Italy.

The highlight of my gleeful trek was when I got to Trinity Bellwoods Park. The beauty of a snow storm is that the masses either stay in doors, huddle on streetcars or roll slowly along in their cars. When I reached the edge of the park a perfect blanket of fresh snow lay before me. Next thing I knew I was running through the line of trees kicking snow everywhere and feeling an ultimate sense of freedom, space and total silliness as I made my way through a million snow flakes.

Why am I telling you this? Well, in the after glow of a perfect morning with my cheeks still flushed and rosy, I wanted to send you my happy vibes as a little Valentine’s day memento.

Have a wicked day.
